| After the devastating fire at the FOCUS House on St. Simons Island - despair set in. What to do? Where to go? Who can help?
Volunteers to the rescue who put their minds together and launched the design and build "FOCUS WeDo Design on a Dime" as its project. With the kind assistance of so many people and friends (LISTED HERE) A "Dream Became a Reality! . . . From Ashes to Blessings!" Said Executive Director and Chaplain, Rev. Terri Lorenz. With the kind intervention of Advisors and Friends:
- Executive Quarters moved to Jekyll Island for the Executive Director
- Garage Storage was offered for items not burned in the fire
- Architect Aaron Wilner of Atlanta helped to put together a design for the Ancillary Storage Shed Workplace
- Stager and Director, Terri Lorenz, put her pencil to paper and secured approval from the Advisory Board
- Property Owner, Jim Karvunis, secured permits and approvals for the structure
- Project Manager, Louis Bailey, organized a game-plan and schedule
- Gary Wolcott provided a trailer for us to move our materials around
- Lowe's Hardware provided assistance with materials needed
- Home Depot provided assistance with materials needed
- Lang Building Supply supplied the roofing shingles
- Sloan Roof and Repair, Inc. and Mr. Herman Sloan, supplied the helping hands to place the shingles
- Pipe Construction and Dick Pipe donated windows, doors and accessory materials to our dream effort.
- Collins Lock & Safe with Michael & Joanne Kitchings held us with our door installation and mechanisms
- and MANY, MANY HANDS and HEARTS put their efforts forward.
How we GIVE GOD THANKS and DELIGHT in the goodness of those who pray for those in need. And, we again stand on the hope and promises that BEAUTY can come from the ASHES.
