            FOCUS Ministries

                       A Descriptive

    The vision for the concept for a place for FOCUS Ministries began in August of 1999 when FOCUS Membership were faced with the grief and loss of Lisa Register; a 34-year-old member and occasional caller within the ministry.  Lisa?s premature death to suicide shook the hearts of FOCUS membership and launched the vision for a place and space which would provide a holistic nurturing environment for the individual heart, mind and spirit.
    FOCUS House was dedicated to the work and glory of God on November 14, 1999 by the Rev. Dave Hanson of St. Simons United Methodist Church, Fr. Curtis Mears of Christ Church and Rev. Bobby Tatum of the Golden Isles Parkway Church of God.  Established, primarily, as a Parsonage for the Executive Ministry Director, at its various locations throughout St. Simons Island, it fostered a footing for guests;  serving individuals in transition for any reason with hope, love and spiritual joy!  After the devastating fire of 2009, FOCUS House was closed and the parsonage for the Executive Ministry Director and Chaplain was moved to Jekyll Island, through the gracious benefaction of James Karvunis, the husband of Rev. Terri Lorenz Karvunis, FOCUS Ministries Chaplain.
    Through its leadership, FOCUS Ministries, Inc. was incorporated, granted a Federal non profit status of 501(c)3 tax exempt in 1997.  FOCUS Leadership is representative of pastors, priests, therapists, counselors, ministers, attorneys, financial consultants, and business leaders from the entirety of the Golden Isles.  The outreach of FOCUS Ministries served more than 200 people who have lived and shared life in its home environment.  While FOCUS Ministries will no longer provide residency or major events at our residence, we will continue outreach to individuals by way of study, ceremonial counsel and services, plus design planning for lifelong growth, covenant, learning and peace.  Inquires can be made to FOCUS  Ministries, Inc. byway of email:  focusministries@bellsouth.net or telephone  (912) 634-9527.
